Work to transfer our website to its new home has been completed, with all articles migrated across.

We are now hosted at ipage, which offers the rich featureset we need (a full Content Management System with a database backend) at an affordable price.

The same CMS as before - Joomla - is used, but a much more recent version meant that there was no easy upgrade path, and the new site had essentially to be rewritten by hand.

The old theme didn't work correctly with the new site, and a more contemporary one, with more flexibility, was chosen.

The old site has finally been retired.

We took a closer look at the small Grass Valley vision mixer, and it's not as small as it seems as it supports 16 inputs by means of a shift button. It  fired up quite happily, but sadly without a picture as yet and more diagnostic work is needed. If we can get it working then we're heading for full digital capability, albeit in a small way.

We still need to agree a format that all our clips should match for the server, and we need to understand how to get our material onto the server for the patients.

This year's Harefield Fun Run will take place on Sunday, 4th September and will be the 30th anniversary of the event. In the past we've covered the event live (and had a lot of fun and even more challenges) in the process. Current membership levels and lack of a direct link to the Hospital's new TV distribution system mean this isn't now possible. Our cameras and reporter will be out as usual, and the final, edited programme will be loaded onto the Hospital's video system so patients and staff will still have the opportunity to watch.

Harefield Hospital Television is a registered charity established in 1986 with the aim of providing an entertaining and informative television for patients, visitors, and staff. We are a small group of very dedicated volunteers, giving up our weekends and a couple of evenings a week to run the service.
In 1991 we started installing a cable distribution system which we hope will eventually cover the entire hospital. The present service consists of BBC1, BBC2, ITV, and Channel 4, plus several satellite channels and HOSFAX, our in-vision Information Service.

The Hospital Channel is a closed circuit network for the hospital, dedicated to providing programmes of particular interest to everyone at Harefield, whether patient or staff.
